We've been enjoying a warm and mild Fall. We managed to take a few family bike rides. There are paved bike trails all over Connecticut and two of them happen to be a few miles from our house. On our first ride we went a total of 4 miles, riding from Farmington to Unionville. Brig road his bike almost the whole way and Benson chilled in the trailer. Thanks McDermott's for letting us borrow your trailer! On the second trip it was a little colder outside so we didn't go as far but it was more scenic with river crossings.
Both of the boys love playing Tball. I didn't get a good picture of Benson but he was smacking the ball just as far as Brigham. The park close to our house has a couple of nice baseball diamonds.
Benson was really tired on this day. He had a cold coming on and fell asleep on the floor twice. Once on the rug in his room where he likes to look at books and then again on the kitchen rug at bedtime.
Jared only had one day of school during the week of Thanksgiving so we decided to take a last minute trip to Vermont. Our first stop was Sharon, VT, the birthplace of Joseph Smith. We arrived late in the evening and we were the only ones there. The missionary couple gave us a quick tour and had the Christmas lights turned on for us.
The granite monument was the most impressive site. It stood over 50 feet tall and the obelisk shaft of the monument is 38 1/2 feet tall (one foot for every year of the Prophet's life.) You can read more about the memorial here: https://history.lds.org/article/joseph-smith-birthplace-sharon?lang=eng
We then headed to Waterbury and spent the evening swimming in the pool and snuggling. The hotel was great and had complimentary cookies and milk and a great hot breakfast. Brig didn't want to leave the hotel.
The next morning we toured some of the local food factories. First stop was Ben and Jerry's ice cream. They weren't making ice cream that day but we did get to go on a tour and sample lots of ice cream!
Next two stops were the Cabot cheese annex and the Cold Hollow Cider Mill. We definitely got our dairy intake with all of the cheese samples. We also tried lots of jellies and maple syrup and of course apple cider!

The cider mill was interesting to see. It even had a live beehive that the boys enjoyed watching. After all the fun samples and sights we headed home and the boys slept the entire way home (almost 4 hours!) What a fun trip. Thanksgiving we had a lot of fun hanging out with our friends the Laskos. Dexter and Brig are in preschool and sunbeams together. They grilled their turkey; Jared and I think it was the best turkey we've ever had. Thanks Laskos!
