The rest of summer vacation was busy. We spent a week at Lake Blaine, MT with the Weishaar side of the family. We rented a cabin on the lake and had a lot of fun jumping off the dock, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. After Papa Moo Moo's funeral we tried to keep the kids busy by boating at Willow Creek, swimming at the Fairfield pool, hiking to Shady falls, visiting Giant Springs, and the 4th of July parade in Choteau. When we got back to RI we spent many days at the zoo and the different beaches. For Brigham's 6th birthday he wanted to go camping. We decided to go to the White Mountains in New Hampshire, the last New England state we needed to explore. What a beautiful area! We camped for three nights right next to a river with giant boulders. The water was freezing, but Brig insisted swimming in it every day. The boys had fun catching frogs and newts in the pond. We hiked the Flume Gorge trail, in Franconia Notch State Park. It's a natural gorge extending 800 feet with 70 foot walls of granite on either side. We also hike around the lost river gorge and panned for gems and stones near the boulder caves. One day we in NH we went to Storyland, which is like a mini Disneyland based on storybook characters. A perfect park for young kids. Brig loved the water rides and Benson shocked us all by loving the roller coasters! We finished out the summer with swim lessons. Brig finally accomplished his goal of floating on his back and swimming without a life jacket. Benson improved in leaps and bounds in his Mommy and me class, he is no longer afraid of swimming pools! The bunnies and wild turkeys ate most of our garden, we did manage to get a few tomatoes and cukes that were delicious!
