Brig's Welcome Home Party

My good friends Becki and Keri threw Brig a baby shower/welcome home party last Saturday. It was so much fun! We had lots of friends and family come. Including my parents, Jared's mom, Ariel, and G & G Heagy. I think Brig is going to be a "people" person. He was wide awake during the party and loving all of the attention. Our little socialite :) So many people love you Brig!

Brig is 2 weeks old!

Hi my name is Brig and I am two weeks old.
  • Yesterday, the rest of my umbilical cord fell off. I have a cute belly button that looks like it could be an "outie".
  • I've got lots of black hair on my head. I even have some on my shoulders, back, and ears.
  • I'm a good baby and hardly ever cry.
  • I eat 3 ounces of formula about every 3 hours.
  • At night I sleep 2-3 hours between meals.
  • I love to hear daddy's voice.
  • I love to sleep on mommy's shoulder and chest.
  • I don't like to burp or be naked.
  • Yesterday,  I went to church for the very first time. During fast and testimony meeting, my branch family expressed their gratitude for me and said what a miracle I am.
  • I am not sure what to think about bath time.
  • I like to look at red colored objects.
  • Today I cooed for the first time while looking at mom's red bamboo flowers.
  • I am really strong and can easily lift my head while being held.
  • I like to wiggle around until I am lying on my side.
  • Today I went to my very first parade and listened to lots of noisy trucks and tractors.
  • I had lots of visitors this weekend. Grandma Haynes, Grandma and Grandpa Weishaar, Aunt Val, Grandpa Ray, Uncle Dylan, and Aunt Mauri. I sure enjoyed cuddling with them.
  • I visited the nursing home and all the old ladies wanted to keep me.
  • I enjoy being held and sang to.
  • I am very handsome and am the center of attention wherever I go.

Here are some pictures from the first couple weeks of my life:

Brigham Jared

Our sweet angel finally arrived on Monday, August 22 at 8:10 am. Brigham Jared weighed 7 lbs 7.7 oz and was 20 inches long. It was such a miracle to be in the delivery room during his birth. We arrived just as his head was crowning. He was born five minutes later. Brig's birthmom Lonia did amazing and she didn't even have an epidural. There was such a sweet spirit in the room as Jared cut the umbilical cord and Brigham was handed to me. I breathed a deep breath as a feeling of great relief and peace came over me because I knew I was a mom. Such a precious moment. But even better was seeing Jared holding him in his arms and with great emotion telling him how much he loved him. I am still shocked that we have been blessed with this beautiful baby. My gratitude toward our Heavenly Father and to Lonia is above and beyond anything that I could express in words. Miracle of miracles!

Brig is such a happy baby. He hardly ever cries, even when I do something wrong- like not putting on his diaper fast enough! Haha good thing he is forgiving because he has rookie parents. He does really well at night. He whimpers a little when he is hungry and so I feed him and he usually falls right back asleep. Jared has been such great help. I have never seen Jared so happy. He can't wait to teach Brig to shoot some hoops. :) The first thing I noticed about him was his full head of dark hair. Next was his long feet and toes (everyone says they look like mine). He has hair on his shoulders and on his back. He is very attentive and if he hears a voice he will look around the room to try and find the source. From the very first day he has been very strong- he can easily lift his head up and move it around quite a bit when he is on my shoulder. And just now while Jared was holding him in the other room he had his first little giggle with a big smile. I am only able to put a few pics up because I left my camera cord for the computer at home. So these pictures are from my cell phone. We have over 200 pics/videos on our camera. LOL from now on this blog will probably be all about Brig. We can't wait to be home! It will probably only be a few more days. The large photos on here were done by Effie Grey Photography. I won their giveaway for a photography session. I highly recommend them! They took a ton of pictures but these are the ones that they posted on their blog and then we will be getting a cd with the rest of them soon. They just couldn't stop taking pictures of Brig because he is stinkin' cute. So stay tuned for more pictures!

Jared's Mountain Bike Race

I am so proud of Jared. He competed in his first mountain bike race with his brother Ryan. It was 50 miles of uphill terrain. He did really well the first 27 miles and then his legs started cramping so bad he couldn't go on. Overall he is very pleased that he made it that far because that is the farthest he has ever gone. I say he did awesome for not training at all beforehand. Ryan has been in several races and he said this one was the toughest one. He finished the race in about 8 hours. Great job Jared and Ryan!
