Dylan and Mauri's Wedding

 Weishaar summer wedding #2 consisted of a kids parade, the Shelby Fair, hiking in Waterton Lakes National Park, spending the night in Cardston, enjoying Canadian delicacies, and of course Dylan and Mauri being sealed together for time and eternity. It was a beautiful sealing and Mauri's grandpa was the sealer. It was fun to reminiscence on our sealing over 4 years ago, in the same temple. Congrats you two!

 Shelby holds a kids' parade every year. Lots of children ride their bikes, dress up in costumes, or walk their dogs in the parade. Ryan and Melissa's kids got ride in the caboose of the train. How fun is that?? You can see Jonah waving out the window up above.

 We looked at all of the animals and exhibits at the fair. This is Jared's buddy, Elliot. This horse loved Jared, and only Jared.

 We even got hot and fresh donuts at the fair. Yum!

 The next day we went to Waterton. Too bad it rained most of the time we were there. This is us taking shelter on the top of Bear Hump Mountain.

 After Waterton we headed to Cardston. Here is the temple from a lookout near our hotel. That night we went and swam at the public pool. It was freezing cold because it was only 60 degrees out but we had a lot of fun on the rope swing. I guess I didn't take any pictures of this which is just as well because all of our lips were blue. We also ate poutine. What is poutine?

This is poutine (poo-teen). French fries smothered in gravy and melted cheese. Sounds gross but I think the Canadians knew what they were doing when they put this combo together. Incredibly tasty. Incredibly unhealthy.

This picture makes me laugh. None of the Weishaars like photo shoots and so they got the pictures done so fast I barely had time to pull out my camera to take a picture of them walking away.

 

All of the Weishaar kids are married now. I think Wayne and Sherry can relax a little now! My good friend Christal was the wedding photographer. Ryan and Melissa's Wedding

 

I am playing catch-up with my posts. Ryan and Melissa were married June 25th in the Cardston, Alberta temple. It was a beautiful ceremony. Before the wedding we all went hiking in East Glacier. Well, at least we tried. It was a 7 mile hike and about 2 miles along, it started pouring rain. A few crazy people pushed on, including myself, Jare, Ryan, Melissa, and a couple of the kids. About a mile away from the falls the snow got so deep that are feet started to get numb so we turned back. Disappointing, but a hike we will always remember.

On the hike we had to cross this rope bridge. There was a large sign that said "one hiker at a time". Obviously Jared broke that rule.

This is not the waterfall we were trying to hike to. It is a different one that was pretty close to the trailhead.

This is Zach, Melissa's middle child. He is Jared's buddy.

Getting Ready for Baby Brig

We have been having way too much fun getting ready for baby Brig's arrival. He is going to be one spoiled baby. Actually, we really haven't had to buy much because people have been so generous with just giving us stuff. Thanks everyone!

Yesterday, Jared set up the crib. Jared's sister, Angie, is done having kids so she gave us her crib, changing table, a large dresser, and a swing. Between her and Heather (Jared's other sister), they managed to fit all of the furniture in their vans (or should I say on top of their van?) and hauled it all the ways from Boise for us. We owe you guys big time! The furniture is solid oak and still in really good condition. I would like to sand it and stain it a darker color though. We are also thinking about painting the baby's room. We haven't decided what color yet. I am very excited about the jogger and car seat. It's a Baby Trend travel system. The car seat straps can be adjusted by a lever (no threading and re-threading to change the height!), and the base can also be tilted to the position you want with a lever. The stroller is equipped with speakers for my ipod so we can listen to tunes while out and about.

 This is the diaper bag I picked out. I just really love giraffes/giraffe print. I think its super cute for baby stuff.

Here's the nursery decor... I just ordered it and can't wait for it to get here. Now that you've seen the nursery theme, any ideas for colors to paint the walls?

Also, we ordered a necklace for Lonia from the R House. The R House is ran by a couple who has done a lot of work to promote adoption. I really enjoy reading their blog here and they also sell custom made jewelery and other gifts for those involved in the adoption process. We are planning on giving this necklace to Lonia as a parting gift (except her necklace has the name Brigham). She is such a wonderful person and I think she will like the necklace.

Now I just need to pack our hospital bag and we will be all set to take off to Utah whenever we need to!

Families Supporting Adoption Upcoming Events

The National Families Supporting Adoption Conference is August 12 and 13 in Layton, Utah. It is a conference organized by LDS Family Services which advocates a positive view of adoption and provides support to birth parents, adoptive couples, children and all friends of adoption. The keynote speaker will be Sister Julie Beck, president of the General Relief Society. I wish we could go!

On a more local level, there is a FSA Conference for the Montana chapter on July 30th, at the Helena Stake center. I will be attending if anyone is interested in going, let me know!

Where does the time go? Oh yeah, we've been busy with family reunions, a wedding, boating, and preparing for a baby. We are busy, busy. We are enjoying our very first summer not selling alarm systems. All of the pictures are out of order, but at least they are up, right? And yes, a lot of them are repeats from Rachel's blog. I guess you are the designated family photographer Rachel. :)

 

We went boating twice last week with the fam. Once at Willow and once at Eureka. It was Jared's first time boating with my family (since he has never been home during the summer time).

We visited Giant Spring State Park and fed these poor starving fish. Not! These were the fattest fish I've ever seen.

 July 2nd was the Ely family reunion. We started it off with a hike to Blackleaf falls. Some were crazy enough to shower in the icy water. Duke said he got a brain freeze within 5 seconds of being under the waterfall.

Woohoo my man can water ski! I was so proud of Jared. It was his first time skiing and he got up on the very first try.

What a busy Grandma. And 3 grandkids aren't even in this picture! And two more on the way!

Jackie and Macy crossing the bridge to the spring. Giant Spring is one of the largest (if not the largest) natural springs in the U.S. and forms into the shortest river in the world-201 feet. It empties into the longest river in the U.S., the Missouri. You can see the pretty blue water from the spring entering into the muddy Missouri above.

 

This is a funny video of Jared's second round of skiing. I think he was starting to get a little tired and he was also pulling hard which created slack in the rope which didn't work out so well for him :)

A Moose Surprise

 We went mountain biking a couple days ago and ran into a moose. Luckily she was more scared of us than we were of her and she took off as soon as she saw us. You can kind of see her through the trees above.

 This was actually the first real mountain bike trip I have ever done. I've only ridden around town and on dirt roads before this. I somehow managed to walk away with only a cut knee. It wasn't an ideal trail because we had to cross a flooding creek about 10 times. So we were wet and muddy by the end but I sure had fun!

The trail we went on is behind Jared and off to the right. It gradually went uphill so it was a lot faster on the way back. It was pretty rocky though and my behind still hurts (even though I was wearing padded bike shorts). Jared thinks we went about 7 miles. Can't wait for our next mountain bike trip!
